MANEB Explained
The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) was found in 1987 by an Act of Parliament (Laws of Malawi Cap 30:04). This was as a result of a merger between the then Malawi Certificate Examinations and Testing Board, and the Examinations Section of the Ministry of Education. The Malawi Certificate of Examinations and Testing had been created in 1969 to take charge of the School Leaving Certificate Examinations at ordinary level. This Act mandates MANEB to develop, administer and process valid national examinations in Malawi for purposes of certification, selection and placement. Further to this, MANEB is mandated to provide technical advice as and when required in matters related to assessment and examinations in the country.
